Residents Against Overdevelopment
Our Views on the 9 story proposed Cheval Blanc Hotel
to be built within the village.
We are opposed to it because we would like to keep the village triangle low rise, and we would like to prevent two lovely low rise buildings from being destroyed and replaced by the 9 story hotel.
We also do not want to set a bad precedent for high rise in the village. The proposed hotel is nice but it's just too tall for our village, and would set bad precedent.
Right now there are two charming buildings designed by master architects on South Santa Monica between Rodeo and Beverly Drive, which would be lost to a huge hotel taking up the block along South Santa Monica Boulevard, rising to 9 stories in height, which would create much greater traffic in the triangle, and would require the relocation of the alley.

The present very nice building at Beverly Drive and South Santa Monica Boulevard, starting east of the alley, would also be torn down. Here is the portion of that building which starts on South Santa Monica Boulevard:
